The film that also stars Jacqueline Fernandez released last Friday on August 14

Akshay Kumar and Sidharth Malhotra have indeed packed a very powerful punch with their latest release, Brothers. The film opened to a warm response from audiences earning Rs 15.20 crore on day 1 and was expected to up its game on the Independence Day holiday. Well, the film not only met expectations but exceeded them with a huge leap in day 2 collections. The film brought in Rs 21.43 crores on Saturday at the domestic front bringing the film’s 2-day collection to Rs 36.63 crores.
With it’s day one figures, the film had become the highest opener for Akshay Kumar breaking Rowdy Rathore’s record of Rs 15.10 crore and now with it’s total 2-day collection, Brothers has surpassed Baby’s first weekend collection of Rs 35.90 crore.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh just tweeted these figures saying, “#Brothers biz witnesses EXCELLENT growth on Sat. Fri 15.20 cr, Sat 21.43 cr. Total: ₹ 36.63 cr. Should have a STRONG Sunday too.” Adarsh’s prediction of Brothers having a strong box office presence on Sunday as well seems achievable given the film has a very positive word of mouth.
At this pace, the film is expected to go ahead of Rowdy Rathore which earned Rs 48.10 crores.
